ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Riordan Roett is Professor and Director Emeritus of the Latin American Studies Program at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). The school is consistently ranked one of the world's top graduate schools for international relations. Dr. Roett's expertise ranges from the region’s economics and security to its relationships with the U.S. and China. Fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, Dr. Roett has authored and edited numerous books on the region, including Brazil and Mexico. He was recognized for his contributions to SAIS with the creation of the Riordan Roett Chair in Latin American Studies in 2004. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Dr. Roett has been interviewed by The New York TimesThe Washington Post, and The Economist, among others.
