ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. John Torpey is the Director of the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies and the Presidential Professor of Sociology and History at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. The author or editor of ten books, Torpey has examined global issues that include the politics of reparations and the restoration of historical injustices. Torpey hosts “International Horizons,” a podcast of the Bunche Institute featuring scholarly and diplomatic perspectives about global issues. For Temple University Press, he edits a series analyzing social changes ranging from global inequality to the legacy of imperialism. Torpey is a columnist for Forbes and has contributed to NPR’s “On the Media,” The HillHuffPost, and the BBC. He tweets @JohnCTorpey.
