ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Robin Wright is a foreign affairs analyst, author, and journalist, who has covered a dozen wars and several revolutions around the world. She has reported from more than 140 countries and is a long-time writer for The New Yorker. She is recognized as "one of the country’s foremost authorities on the Middle East, Islamic extremism, Iran, and political and military dynamics in the Muslim world.” Wright has authored several books, the most recent of which is Rock the Casbah: Rage and Rebellion Across the Islamic World (2011), selected as the Best Book on International Affairs by the Overseas Press Club. Her book The Last Great Revolution: Turmoil and Transformation in Iran (2000) was chosen as one of the 25 most memorable books of the year by the New York Library Association. Her first New Yorker piece on Iran won the National Magazine Award for best reporting in 1989 and her most recent article on Iran, entitled “Overmatch,” appears in The New Yorker’s January 3 & 10, 2022 issue.
Wright is also a joint fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and the U.S. Institute of Peace. Wright previously was a correspondent for The Washington Post, and also wrote for The New York Times Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic,Foreign Affairs, among many others.
