Visions for a Sustainable Future is both the title of our speaker’s award winning book and the topic for his talk. Committed to creating a sustainable future in the U.S., Mark A. Gabriel is hoping to set an example of sustainability, grid modernization and resiliency across the country that could be a global model for energy use and distribution. Mr. Gabriel will speak to what is happening now in the U.S., how these developments might be relevant for our foreign policy and how our future energy system might be a model for other countries?
About the Speaker
Mark A. Gabriel is President and CEO of United Power. a not-for-profit, member-owned, electric cooperative serving more than 116,ooo meters in Colorado's northern Front Range, including areas surrounding Denver International Airport. Mr. Gabriel is instrumental in championing Our Cooperative Roadmap, United Power's long-term action plan to ensure the cooperative's future as an industry leader in an evolving utility landscape. he is a industry leader in an evolving utility landscape. He is a member of the U.S. Departments of Energy's (DOE) Electric Advisory Committee and serves as the current chair of the GridWise Alliance Board of Directors.
Mr. Gabriel has served in numerous energy-related positions, including executive roles at Western Area Power Administration, Black & Veatch Management Consulting and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). At EPRI, he led the Nationwide collaborative effort known as the Electricity Sector Framework . He holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Fordham University and completed the coursework for a Master of Science in administration and management from St. Michael’s College.
