She is a cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and attended New York University School of Law. Susan received the Alumni Award of Merit from the University of Pennsylvania for her outstanding service to the University. It is the highest honor bestowed by Penn Alumni.

She also led a very successful national search process which placed a new General Manager at the Club.

Susan served on the Advisory Board of the Field Center for Children's Policy, Practice and Research at the University of Pennsylvania. This Committee considers myriad requests and awards grants which have made a lasting impact on student initiatives, faculty retention and the quality of life on campus.

Several years ago, she established the Susan T. Marx Distinguished Lecture Series at the Arthur Ross Gallery on the University campus, intended to inspire Penn students across disciplines to develop an interest or a passion for art. Dr. Johnnetta Cole, former Director of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African Art, gave the inaugural lecture. Subsequent speakers have included Jaume Plensa, internationally renowned sculptor; David Driskell, artist, professor and scholar in the field of African American art; and Liliana Porter, an Argentinian multi-media artist whose work is in the collection of major museums.  William Kentridge, a world renowned South African artist who is internationally acclaimed for his drawings, films, theatre and opera productions also spoke. Allison Saar, a highly regarded African-American artist based in Los Angeles, was last year's speaker. Because of its success, Susan has endowed the Lecture Series to ensure its life in perpetuity.

Susan was appointed to the Directors Council of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. The Council assists the Museum Director on topics of importance to the institution's strategic and business plans. Issues include branding, long range planning, maximizing meaningful student engagement, and making the museum accessible to non-traditional audiences.
